Earth Day Festival 2014 – This weekend

Last weekend on Englewood Beach – 2014 Super Boat Races.
April 16, 2014
Last weekend was the first time a Super Boat Race was held on Manasota Key. For the most part this 3 day event went well. The majority of spectators were bussed in from 11 offsite locations.
One determined guy decided to go kakaying during the race. You’ll see the Charlotte County Water Patrol/Sheriff instructing him to return to shore. I don’t know why he thought he could go kayaking, while boats were zooming by at up to 150 mph.
The World’s “Most Interesting Man” loves Castaways too.

March 14, 2014
Did you know today is actually National “pi Day”?
We think the best way to commemorate, would be to enjoy a slice of Key Lime Pie.
In 2006 Key Lime pie was designated the Official State Pie of Florida.
It’s Seafood Festival Time.
March 13, 2014
Many local towns hold seafood festivals during March. Here is an upcoming event not far from Manasota Key, in Placida.
Team Work!
March 12, 2014
We had a team of volunteers which were headed by Sue, (Sue is a Castaways resident & also on the Board of Directors) to design & hand paint the seating surface of the new benches on the sunset deck. What a great project and the benches look so beautiful. Thank you ladies for all of your contributions to this art project!
